🥈Silver price today
Quotation from 10/13/2026
International futures market · converted via PTAX
Silver is trading at R$ 9.69 per gram (US$ 60.41 per troy ounce) at the close of 10/13/2026. Silver has two lives: it's a precious metal, like gold, and an industrial input — from solar panels to electronics. This makes it more volatile than gold and more tied to the economic cycle.

What this price means
This is the international market price of silver, in dollars per troy ounce (31.1035 grams), converted here to grams and reais using the day's exchange rate. This is the wholesale price of the pure metal.
Half of the world's silver goes to industry: it is the best electrical conductor in existence and is found in solar panels, electrical contacts, electronics, and medical equipment. The other half is investment and silverware. This dual nature explains why silver rises more than gold during rallies and takes a harder hit during downturns.
This is not the price of silverware or 925 silver jewelry — which contains 92.5% silver in the alloy and includes manufacturing and margin. And anyone selling scrap silver receives below this benchmark, for the same reason as gold: buyers need to melt it down, test the purity, and resell it.
What makes the price of silver rise and fall
This is what separates silver from gold. Solar energy has become the biggest growth driver for consumption — every panel uses silver in its conductive paste. When industry accelerates, silver decouples from gold; when the global economy slows down, it takes a heavier hit.
Like any precious metal, silver suffers when US real interest rates rise and benefits when they fall. The same reasoning as gold applies — just with greater amplitude.
How many ounces of silver buy one ounce of gold. The market monitors this figure as a stretched-market thermometer: a very high ratio usually indicates silver is cheap relative to gold, and is one of the classic arguments used by silver buyers.
Most silver comes out as a byproduct of copper, lead, and zinc mines. In other words: a high silver price doesn't spawn new silver mines — supply depends on the cycle of other metals. This is what produces violent movements.
How to invest in silver in Brazil
The avenues are similar to gold, but with a heavy caveat: in Brazil, physical silver has poor liquidity and a high bid-ask spread.
The most practical way to track the price without physical custody. Check fees and embedded exchange rates before comparing performance with the dollar-denominated price.
A market exists, but the spread between what you pay and what you can get back is large — it usually eats up several years of gains. Requires a reputable supplier.
Since almost all silver is a byproduct, exposure mainly comes through base metal miners — which also carry the risk of copper and zinc.
A commodity pays no dividends or interest: the return comes solely from price movement, and it can go years without moving. Therefore, for most investors, it makes more sense to use the quotation as a thermometer — to gauge the momentum of companies and funds that generate cash from it — than to try to guess the direction of the price.
