About JGP Gestão de Crédito

JGP Gestão de Crédito (CNPJ 13.189.882/0001-27) is the private credit specialized vertical of the JGP group — one of the most respected independent asset managers in Brazil, founded in 1998 by professionals working together since the early 90s. The credit vertical was established separately in 2010 and gathers, according to Mais Retorno data, assets under management close to R$ 20.8 billion distributed across 85 operational funds and over 50 thousand unitholders. In the Fiagros segment, the manager operates via JGPX11 — its only public agribusiness credit vehicle, launched in September 2021.

Track record and governance

JGP has built a solid reputation in corporate credit with tax-exempt debenture strategies (incentivized debentures) and high-yield credit. The JGP Debêntures Incentivadas fund was elected 2nd best in the Fixed Income Incentivized Debentures category at the Exame – Best of the Market 2024 awards, and the group received the Best Multi-market Platform 2023 award from the FGVCef/MBPI ranking. The governance structure of JGPX11 relies on Banco Daycoval as administrator, executive management by Alexandre de Oliveira Muller, and risk management by Gabriel Sertã da Rocha Barbosa. JGP's clearest differentiator compared to Fiagro peers is granular transparency in monthly reports: each stressed debtor (Agrogalaxy, Lavoro, Belagrícola, Solubio, Café Brasil, Prime Agro) is described in detail regarding guarantee clauses, meeting progress, and reinforcement schedules — a rare standard in the segment. The 2024–2025 cycle tested this reputation: the Agrogalaxy default forced a reduction in DPS to R$ 0.55/month for semesters and generated an accounting loss. In April 2026, the markdown of the Lavoro CRA to 50% of its value impacted the fund's NAV by –3.5% (R$ 7.3 million), consuming the retained earnings of R$ 1.78/unit accumulated until March.

Strategy and fund under management

JGPX11 is JGP's bet on agribusiness credit via CRAs, a segment different from its historical core in urban corporate credit. The thesis is high yield with tax exemption for individuals (Law 14.130/2021): a portfolio with 30 CRAs from 24 debtors + 1 senior FIAGRO + 1 FIDC, an average duration of 1.7 years, and an average spread of CDI+2.94%. Diversification among debtors is reasonable, but concentration in agro credit exposes the fund to sector seasonality and the current default cycle of Brazilian agribusiness companies — a context that partner Julia Bretz publicly anticipated as a systemic risk in 2024. The P/NAV of 0.66 with a DY of 17.6% signals a real discount — but it is a risk premium, not an obvious opportunity. The unit price accumulates –12.9% in 2026 through June. Fees: management 1% p.a., administration 0.18% p.a., and a performance fee of 20% over CDI+2%.

Strengths and points of attention

  • Proven brand and credentials — 27 years of JGP, R$ 20 billion+ in credit, recent awards validate the analytical process.
  • Above-average transparency — reports with surgical detail on each troubled debtor, including guarantees and ongoing negotiations.
  • Senior team dedicated to credit — separate structure (JGP Gestão de Crédito Ltda.) with independent management and compliance.
  • Persistent default cycle — multiple issuers in distress simultaneously (Lavoro, Belagrícola, Solubio, Café Brasil, Prime Agro) increase recovery uncertainty.
  • Markdowns immediately impact assets — the Lavoro event (April/2026) wiped out months of retained earnings, showing that the fund operates without a comfortable accounting cushion.
  • Absence of guidance — the manager does not project future DPS, which makes unitholder income planning difficult.

For which investor does it make sense

JGP Gestão de Crédito is suitable for those who want private credit managed by a firm with a rigorous process and above-industry communication. JGPX11, its Fiagro vehicle, is appropriate for investors with tolerance for credit cycles, a 2–4 year horizon, and who understand that the current discount in the secondary market reflects real recovery risk — not just market noise. It is not recommended for those seeking predictable short-term income, as new markdown events are possible while the agro default cycle does not stabilize. Investors should follow the manager's monthly reports (available at fiagro.jgp.com.br) and be clear that the return thesis via unit convergence to NAV depends on the absence of new relevant defaults in the coming quarters.
