About Itaú Asset

Itaú Asset Management is the largest private fund manager in Brazil, with over 60 years of operation and more than R$ 1.2 trillion under management in the consolidated Itaú Unibanco group—of which more than R$ 80 billion is in Absolute Return/Multi-market strategies. With around 240 employees and international presence (Brazil, Buenos Aires, Santiago, and New York), the firm carries the institutional weight of the country's largest financial conglomerate. In the universe of listed FIIs and Fiagros, its shelf includes ICRI11, RURA11, ITRI11, as well as TMPS11, ILOG11, and ICDI11—totaling six or more vehicles on the stock exchange. We assign a 8.7 (VERY GOOD) rating to the manager.

Track record and governance

Its track record is among the most solid in the Brazilian market. Itaú Asset has been voted 15 times best manager by the FGV Fund Guide (2001, 2005, 2008, 2009, and the uninterrupted sequence from 2013 to 2023) and won the 2025 InfoMoney Outliers Award as manager of the year.

  • Received the AMP-1 (Strong) rating from S&P Global Ratings, with a "Very Strong" management practice—the highest tier of the scale. S&P highlights a very strong brand image, broad distribution channel via Itaú Unibanco, and a diversified mix of products and clients.
  • Real estate fund administration is handled by Intrag DTVM, from the same group—total integration between manager and administrator, a rare control differential in the sector.
  • Auditing by PwC (verified at least in RURA11) and heavy investment in governance, infrastructure, controls, and ESG integration, including a responsible investment whitepaper in partnership with E Fund Management.
  • No negative regulatory events with CVM for the manager. The update to Annex III of Resolution 175 foreseen in the 2026 CVM Agenda is a general market theme, not specific to the firm.

Strategy and funds under management

The three analyzed funds cover complementary segments and show the firm's scope. ICRI11 (rating 7.4) is the IPCA+ paper FII, with 33 CRIs, 63% indexed to IPCA+ (MTM rate of 10.22%) and 27% to CDI+, proprietary origination via Itaú BBA, and a management fee of only 1.00% p.a. without performance fee. RURA11 (rating 6.6) is the credit Fiagro, with AUM of R$ 1.65 billion, which debuted in March 2022 as the country's largest Fiagro by volume and unitholders. ITRI11 (rating 6.4) is the hybrid FoF launched in March 2024, with 81%+ in listed FIIs, CRIs, developer stocks, and a stake in development funds.

The overall reading reveals an important pattern: despite the manager's excellence, the quality of the funds is moderate and dispersed (ratings 7.4, 6.6, and 6.4). All three trade at a P/BV below 1.00 (0.94, 0.85, and 0.85), a sign that the market applies a discount, and offer attractive DYs (12.94%, 14.93%, and 12.22%). It is a strong brand whose shelf still needs to convert institutional reputation into consistent performance for each vehicle.

Strengths and points of attention

  • Scale of R$ 1.2 trillion in AuM and backing of the Itaú Unibanco group.
  • Proprietary origination via Itaú BBA, with co-financed CRIs (Lotisa, Idea Zarvos, among others).
  • Competitive fees: 1.00% p.a. without performance fee in ICRI11 and RURA11, and 1.20% p.a. without performance fee in ITRI11.
  • S&P AMP-1 rating and high transparency in reports.
  • RURA11 performance fee of 20% over CDI+1%—aggressive for the agribusiness credit category.
  • P/BVs below 1.00 in all three funds—the market prices in a discount and has not yet fully validated the theses.
  • RURA11 ALL (Allowance for Loan Losses) of R$ 57.6 million (3.5% of AUM), reflecting agribusiness credit risk.
  • ICRI11 with a small unitholder base (11,673), concentrated in affluent Itaú clients, which may weigh on liquidity.
  • ITRI11 still young (26 months), with a short track record, although it has already yielded 18.47% in 12 months post-IPO, 1.65 pp above IFIX.

Which investor is this for

Itaú Asset makes sense for investors who value institutional solidity, AMP-1 governance, and lean fees, accepting that the individual quality of the funds is good but not exceptional. Those seeking income in IPCA+ paper find ICRI11 to be the cheapest and most conservative option; RURA11 caters to agribusiness credit exposure for those who tolerate ALL and the performance fee; and ITRI11 serves investors willing to take on a young hybrid FoF with a capital gain bias. What to monitor: evolution of RURA11's ALL, the maintenance of ICRI11's payouts (reserve rose to R$ 2.40/share) and the consolidation of ITRI11's track record. This is analytical coverage, not a buy recommendation.
